The Teacher Externship RFA provides District educators a unique opportunity to access a real-world experience in high-demand employment sectors to inform future practice.
Through this RFA, DOES seeks proposals from registered apprenticeship sponsors and/or educator training providers detailing the creation of apprenticeship externship programs that help teachers gain first-hand knowledge of how apprenticeship works and prepares the students they come into contact with daily for the future workforce.
Understanding the educator’s position in supporting youth to develop their post-secondary plan, the teacher externship program will allow educators a rare glimpse into the daily operation of apprenticeship, an extremely successful workforce model often overlooked by youth when determining post-secondary pathways.
